First Indian film to earn 100 crores

But the disco dancer, released in the 1980s, became a superhit film at that time, which earned Rs 100 crore internationally. This musical drama film grossed Rs 100 crore at the box office. It was the first Indian film to earn 100 crores.
Mithun Chakraborty received a special identity
Mithun Chakraborty got a new identity from the film director Babbar Subhash’s film ‘Disco Dancer’. He is still popular as ‘Jimmy’. This superhit film made Mithun its admirer. The film, telling the story of a street singer becoming a disco superstar, grossed Rs 1.5 crore in 2014. It earned six crore rupees, but recorded huge earnings abroad.
Collection of 94 crores in Russia
The film ‘Disco Dancer’ received a tremendous response in Europe. When it was released in Russia in 1984, it earned around 60 million rubles (Rs 94.28 crore) there. The film sold 12 million tickets. This has reduced their total earnings of Rs 1,00,000. 100.68 crores
‘Sholay’ broke all records
Prior to this film, the highest -grossing film ‘Sholay’ was, Amitabh Bachchan, Dhamendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan starrer ‘Sholay’ earned Rs 15.50 crore. It earned 35 crores. The film ‘Disco Dancer’ earned three times more than that.
His record broke a decade later.
No one could break the record of 100 crore collections of the film ‘Disco Dancer’ for a decade. After this, in 1994 the film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ broke all his records. The disco dancer included Mithun Chakraborty with artists like Kalpana Iyer, Rajesh Khanna, Kim Yashpal and Om Puri. At that time Mithun made his debut in Bollywood. Nevertheless, ‘Disco Dancer’ remained a blockbuster film. And Mithun also became a superstar.
