Although the film was made in a big budget of 28.5 crores, after its release it flopped badly at the box office.

Despite this, the film later became a Cult Classic and in 2012, Karan Johar made a remake of the film with Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt, which earned tremendous.
