Mumbai: Navi Mumbai’s Kalamboli circle witnessed long traffic jam due to the extension work for the flyover and underpass. The construction of extention has already commenced in Navi Mumbai. As a result, significant traffic jams were reported on the first day of the construction work.
Traffic restrictions imposed by the Navi Mumbai Police aggravated the congestion. Additionally, the Panvel exit was closed yesterday for six months due to the ongoing expansion work.
Navi Mumbai traffic police issued a notification regarding the closure of the expressway exit, which was enforced on Tuesday, according to a report by The Indian Express. The restrictions were implemented due to the ongoing construction of a flyover and an underpass at Kalamboli Circle by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC). As a result, vehicles traveling towards Panvel and JNPT were diverted through the Sion-Panvel Highway and Taloja Link Road to reach Kalamboli Circle.
“The road was temporarily reopened for a few hours in the late morning due to heavy congestion at the junction. However, after reviewing the situation and implementing revised traffic measures, authorities decided to proceed with the original plan and keep the exit road closed,” said a senior Navi Mumbai police, as quoted by The Indian Express.
