The Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Dr Kishore Bisure, the then Dean at the Dahisar Covid-19 Jumbo Centre. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on July 19, 2023 alleging that he received valuable items for clearing fake attendance sheets at the Dahisar centre during the pandemic.

Justice Milind Jadhav said that Bisure had been in custody for nearly a year and seven months. No substantial progress had been made in the trial and charges are yet to be framed, the judge said. Also, Bisure had fully cooperated with the probe.

The prosecution has cited 82 witnesses to be examined in the case, “making the conclusion of the trial in the near future unlikely”, the judge said while granting bail.

As per the ED, between July 2020 and February 2022, irregularities in functioning of two Covid centres in Dahisar and Worli, operated by the BMC had led to wrongful gain and proceeds of crime to the tune of Rs 32.44 crore to Lifeline Hospital Management Services, which was given the contract to provide medical services and others.
