Ira Jadhav’s brilliant batting of 83 in 38 balls helped Shardashram Vidyamandir edge out opponents Vasant Vihar to become the first team to qualify for the semi-final of the Late Manoramabai Apte Girls U16 Cricket Tournament.
Ira, the star batter has been in brilliant form and ensured her willow did all the talking. Her outstanding show was laced with 10 fours and four huge maximums. She pierced the gaps well and was always ahead of the bowlers, winning the player of the match award…an MSSA-SG Voucher of Rs. 2,000. Shardashram thus notched up 137-2 in their allotted 10 overs after electing to bat first. Ashira Patil also scored 38 in 20 balls. In reply, Vasant Vihar finished off with 50-3 in 10 overs, thus Shardashram won by 87 runs.
At Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana, Parag English School won by 94 runs against Chatrabhuj Narsee School to advance into the quarterfinal round. Put into bat first, Parag English scored 142-0 in their allotted 10 overs.
Openers Tanisha Sharma and Swara Jadhav got their team off to a flying start. Tanisha made 84*off 34 balls with 17 fours while Swara scored an unbeaten 50* in 26 balls which included nine boundaries. In reply, the Chatrabhuj outfit managed 48-5 in 10 overs. Tanisha Sharma was awarded the player of the match award for her splendid batting display.
