Mahakumbh Mela Loudspeaker: The Allahabad High Court has rejected the PIL seeking the removal of loudspeakers from the Mahakumbh Mela on the basis that the petition lacks data to show that loudspeakers were causing more noise pollution than the acceptable limit. Another PIL has also been filed in the High Court regarding the stampede on January 29 in Mahakumbh. Rejecting the PIL seeking to remove loudspeakers, the court said, “Such a brief petition cannot be accepted.”

Petitioner Brahmachari Dayanand and another knocked on the doors of the High Court and claimed that ‘when I was campaigning in Sector 18 of Mahakumbh, loudspeakers (public address system) and LCD were being used in the camps around me, Due to which noise pollution was happening. This type of noise pollution hinders their concentration. The court said that ‘the petitioners had filed a picture of loudspeakers imposed only for advertising purposes and these temporary public roads.’
