Alan Musk is planning to buy Openai. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Musk, along with a group of investors, offered Sam Altman to buy Openai for $ 97 billion. However, Altman turned down the proposal and replied by saying “no thanks”. The report also states that Musk and his investor group officially proposed to Openai’s board to take control of the company and bring it back in its non-profit form.
Altman offered to buy Twitter for $ 9.74 billion
Musk’s lawyer Mark Toberoff said, “If Sam Altman and Current Board want Openai to become a for-profit company completely, it is necessary that charity is given proper compensation to lose control of such technology.” Responding to Musk’s offer, Altman wrote in a post on the social media platform X, “No thanks, but if you are interested, we are ready to buy Twitter for $ 9.74 billion.”
Musk filed a case against Openai twice last year
Musk filed a lawsuit twice against Openai in 2024. For the first time in July 2024, Musk accused the company of wandering with her founding principles. Musk believed that this change has put Openai under the influence of corporate interests rather than the benefits of humanity. This legal dispute highlighted Musk’s vision and the tension between Openai’s growth and profitability.
In August 2024, Musk again sued and accused Openai of involvement in the race to develop a powerful ‘Artificial General Intelligence’ (AGI) technology for “maximum profit”. Musk also accused the company of cheating. Let us know that Openai was founded in 2015 as a non-profit organization by Sam Altman, Alan Musk and others to counter Google’s dominance. However, Mask later left the company due to disagreement, and Altman took over as CEO.
