During the third and final ODI in Ahmedabad, players from Team India and England decided to wear green ribbons to support BCCI’s “Donate Organs, Save Lives” campaign. Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler were first spotting wearing green ribbons during the toss.

On Monday, ICC Chairman Jay Shah launched the “Donate Organs, Save Lives” initiative, urging people to pledge their organs and give others a second chance at life.

Team India Backs Organ Donation Awareness

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also shared a video featuring Team India players appealing to fans to support this noble cause.

Virat Kohli emphasized the impact of organ donation, saying, “Score the ultimate century! Your organs can help others live beyond your lifetime. Register as a donor and make every life count.”*

India’s vice-captain Shubman Gill encouraged leadership in kindness, stating, “Be the captain of life! Just like a captain leads the team to victory, you can lead someone to life by pledging to donate your organs.”

Shreyas Iyer highlighted the life-saving potential of a single donor, saying,”One donor can save up to eight lives. Pledge today and hit a six for humanity.”

KL Rahul compared organ donation to a match-winning moment, remarking, “Play the ultimate winning shot! Your decision to donate your organs can be the match-winning moment in someone’s life. Be a hero off the field too.”

Axar Patel kept it simple, stating, “Be the captain of kindness. Pledge to donate and inspire others to follow.” .Hardik Pandya reinforced the message, adding, “Lead by example. A single decision can be a winning shot for many.”

Ravindra Jadeja encouraged fans to think beyond cricket, saying, “Hit a six for humanity! One donor can save up to eight lives. Be the all-rounder the world needs.” Finally, Arshdeep Singh used a cricket analogy to make his point, stating, “Don’t let lives get bowled! Thousands wait for an organ transplant. Be the game-changer and give them a second innings.”

England strike early as Rohit Sharma departs

England skipper jhos Buttler won the toss for the third straight time and asked India to bat first in AHmedabad. The decision proved to be a success with Rohit Sharma falling to Mark Wood for just 1 run with Phil Salt taking a cracking catch behind the stumps.
