Washington: President Donald Trump issued an order to ban the use of straws of paper, stating that they do not work and do not last long. I want the government to return to plastic. Trump issued this order and overturned the federal purchase policy, which prohibited the use of plastic straws and encouraged the use of paper straws. In the order, federal agencies were asked to stop buying paper straws. Trump has long been opposed to paper straw. During the 2019 election campaign, he sold a packet of ten reusable plastic straws branded in the name of “Paper Straw” to his supporters in fifteen dollars to protest his policy of banning single-use plastic.
President Trump said on social media that Joe Biden’s plastic policy is a dead end. When he was told that the plastic goes into the stomach of the shark, Trump said, “This is fine.” I do not think plastic has any effect on sharks. It eats so much in the sea that it is considered a task for it.
Many states and cities in the US have banned the use of plastic straws. The problem is that every minute a truck is thrown into the sea due to plastic waste from various sources. According to experts, this plastic breaks into fine particles and enters the body of fish, birds and humans. 90 percent of plastic is obtained from oil and natural gas. Due to which pollution also increases. Christie Levitt, leader of the environment group Osiana, said that President Trump is going in the wrong direction on the issue of single-utility plastic. However, plastic manufacturing companies welcomed President Trump’s decision. Matt Sehom, president of the Plastic Industry Association, said that straw is only the beginning. We all should support the movement to return to plastic. 390 million straws per day in the US are used for 30 minutes or less. Plastic straws take 200 years to disintegrate, and their subtle plastic pose a threat to turtles and other animals. Every year 400 million tonnes of plastic is produced worldwide, of which 40 percent are used in plastic packaging.
Last year, leaders of various countries gathered in Korea to consider the problem of plastic pollution, but they could not reach any agreement. America, China and Germany are the largest countries in global plastic trade. American plastic manufacturers have called for a conversation with Trump to stay firm on the table and reverse Biden’s plastic policies.
