Three railway employees from the Central Railway’s Mumbai division were felicitated by the Dharam Veer Meena , General Manager of Central Railway on Tuesday for their prompt action in detecting a rail fracture, thereby averting a potential mishap.
Arun Kumar, a master craftsman from the Central Railway’s Mumbai division, was among those honored for spotting a rail fracture between Mankhurd and Vashi on January 14th. His swift reporting of the issue helped prevent a possible accident.
Similarly, Rajan Singh, a pointsman with the Central Railway’s Mumbai division, noticed a rail fracture on the main line near Pen on January 4th while working on load release at the yard. He immediately informed the concerned officials. The Permanent Way Inspector was alerted, and the problem was rectified after following safety protocols. His presence of mind helped avert a possible mishap.
Additionally, Deepak Kumar, an electric signal maintainer with the Mumbai division of the Central Railway, noticed a rail fracture near Dativali during a track inspection on January 7th. He immediately informed all concerned authorities, adhering to safety protocols, and traffic on the section resumed after appropriate action was taken. His keen observation helped avert a potential mishap.
Along with the three Mumbai division employees, eight more employees from other Central Railway divisions were also recognized for their outstanding contributions. This included four employees from Pune, two from Solapur, and one each from Bhusaval and Nagpur.
“The awards were presented in recognition of their alertness during duty, their contributions in preventing untoward incidents, and their efforts in ensuring safety in train operations in recent months” said an official of CR adding that each award consisted of a medal, a commendation certificate, a citation for exemplary safety work, and a cash prize of ₹2,000.
