Holidays Declared In Schools, Shifted To Online Classes Due To Heavy Crowd Returning From Maha Kumbh. | X

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), February 10: In a major development, Varanasi schools will remain closed due to the large crowd at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj. All schools from Class 1 to Class 8 will conduct online classes until Friday (February 14). The Basic Education Officer has issued the order on Monday (February 10) that the schools will remain shut and online classes will be conducted.

The District Magistrate has instructed schools to shift to online learning to help manage traffic. However, other school-related administrative work will continue as usual.

Schools in Rural Areas to Remain Open

This order applies only to schools in urban areas. Schools in rural areas will remain open at their regular timings. Teachers and students in rural schools must attend in person.

Decision Taken Due to Heavy Traffic in Varanasi

During Maha Kumbh 2025, a large number of devotees are coming to Kashi. Due to this, the roads and streets of Varanasi have become overcrowded. Despite efforts by the district administration and police, traffic problems continue. Heavy congestion has severely affected daily life, forcing people to spend hours stuck in traffic.

Parents Concerned Over School Reopening

On Monday, despite these traffic issues, the district administration decided to reopen schools for one day. This decision surprised many. Parents were worried and their problems increased as children faced difficulty reaching school on time due to traffic jams. Many students also struggled to return home.

To avoid such issues, authorities have now decided to shift urban schools to online classes until February 14.
