Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Following the recent arrest of seven Bangladeshi nationals from Chembur RCF, a special police team led by DCP Dr. Pravin Mundhe (Zone 1) conducted operations in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, resulting in the arrest of 16 more illegal immigrants (seven men and nine women) on Saturday.

The number of illegal Bangladeshi residents across Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and Navi Mumbai has increased significantly. Many of them forge Indian identity documents to establish false citizenship and reside in these cities for years. Investigations have revealed that these illegal immigrants even take advantage of government welfare schemes.

Mumbai Police, along with other law enforcement agencies across Maharashtra, have been cracking down on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in recent months. During these operations, shocking details have emerged, including the use of forged documents by these individuals to participate in Indian elections as voters.

To curb the growing infiltration, the Mumbai Police have formed special task forces. A 14-member special police unit, led by DCP Dr. Pravin Mundhe, carried out raids in Kalamboli, Panvel, Kopar Khairane, Kalyan, Mumbra (Navi Mumbai), and Shivdi Darukhana, Mankhurd, and Chembur (Mumbai), leading to the arrest of 16 Bangladeshi nationals. Authorities seized forged documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, from the suspects. Further investigations are underway, according to DCP Dr. Pravin Mundhe.
