A car driver was killed, and a woman was injured when a container from a speeding trailer fell onto their vehicle near Karnala Ghat on the Mumbai-Goa Highway on Sunday morning. The trailer driver fled the scene, and police have launched a search operation.
The deceased has been identified as Jagdish Hazra (32), while the injured woman is Pallavi Shrikant Joshi (56), both residents of Mulund, Mumbai. Hazra was employed as Joshi’s driver. The incident occurred as they were returning from Poynad to Mulund in Joshi’s car.

Around 9:30 am, as their car reached Karnala Ghat, a container passing by at a high-speed trailer suddenly fell onto their vehicle. Hazra was crushed under the container and died on the spot. Joshi, who was seated in the back, suffered minor injuries.
Upon receiving the information, Panvel Taluka Police arrived at the scene, got the victims out of the car, and took them to a hospital. “The trailer driver fled after the accident, and we are looking for him,” a police officer said.
