Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Saturday claimed that he and his mother, party chief Mehbooba Mufti have been placed under house arrest.

Giving information, Iltija Mufti said that Mehbooba Mufti was to meet Wasim Ahmed Malla’s family in Sopore today, but he was not allowed to leave the house.

Who is Wasim Ahmed Malla?
Wasim Ahmed Malla was a truck driver who was killed in the firing of security forces in Sopore two days ago. The atmosphere in the valley became tense after his death.

Iltija Mufti claims: under house arrest

Iltija Mufti gave this information while posting on the social media platform ‘X’.

Iltija Mufti wrote:
“Both my mother and me have been put under house arrest. Our doors have been closed because they had to visit Sopore, where Wasim Mir was shot by the army. ”

he adds:
“My intention was to meet Makhan Deen’s family in Kathua, but I am not being allowed to exit. Nothing has changed in Kashmir even after the election is over. Now meeting the families of the victims is also considered a crime. ”

Things and government situation in Kashmir

The political stir in Kashmir has once again intensified due to this incident.
Many political parties have questioned the intention of the government when Mehbooba Mufti and her daughter are under house arrest.
No official statement has come from the government on this issue so far.

Is this the first time?

This is not the first time Mehbooba Mufti or other Kashmiri leaders are under house arrest. Even before this, leaders have been under house arrest, citing security reasons many times.

  • Mehbooba Mufti was kept in custody for a long time after removing Article 370.
  • Many other Kashmiri leaders have also been put under house arrest.
