The Uttar Pradesh government is working rapidly on the expansion of expressway network to improve the connectivity of the state. Chitrakoot Link Expressway is an important part of this effort. This will connect the Bundelkhand Expressway to the National Highway 135, which will facilitate traffic in the region and will speed up economic development. The National Highway Authority (NHAI) has already completed the acquisition of 68% of the land, while the land acquisition process of 13 villages of Bundelkhand is going on.
After the construction of this expressway, the property market is expected to rise in Chitrakoot and surrounding areas.
166.55 hectares of land will be acquired
The Uttar Pradesh government has planned to acquire 166.55 hectares of land of 13 villages for Chitrakoot Link Expressway.
- So far 69% of the land has been acquired.
- The amount of Rs 120 crore has recently been released to speed up the land acquisition process.
- The total cost of the project is Rs 228 crore, out of which Rs 100 crore has already been allocated.
Chitrakoot Link Expressway: Major features
- It will connect the Bundelkhand Expressway to NH-135.
- There will be a 15.20 km long four lane greenfield project.
- The tender process will be started after land acquisition.
- The government has targeted to complete it in 1.5 to 2 years.

Public Works Department’s action plan rejected again
The Uttar Pradesh government has sent back the 2023-24 action plan of PWD again for amendment.
- Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had asked to prepare an action plan based on the suggestions of local public representatives.
- It was returned after reviewing the new format, as the action plan found a shortage of standards.
- The scheme proposed widening of state routes and construction of more than 700 small bridges at a cost of more than Rs 6,000 crore.
Questions raised on the quality of roads
According to sources, most of the samples taken from 46 roads in 10 districts failed.
- Questions are being raised on the quality of construction and the work of engineers.
- Due to the affecting construction work in cold weather, pressure is being put to work at a fast pace, which can affect the quality.
- ND Dwivedi, president of Diploma Engineers Association, suggested that instead of repeatedly returning the action plan, immediate improvement should be made with the officials.
