The BCCI has called its second special general meeting within two months. The new Joint Secretary is to be selected in this meeting to be held on March 1. This post is vacant for about a month. Significantly, last month, Devjit Saikia was elected the new Secretary of BCCI in place of Jai Shah, after which the post was vacant. According to the Constitution of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, this post should be filled within 45 days under any circumstances.

 

BCCI convened special meeting

The BCCI has called a special general meeting on 1 March to fill the vacant post of Joint Secretary. The new secretary Devjit has sent information to all state organizations regarding the AGM to be held on 6 February. According to reports, the meeting will be held at BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. According to the rules, all state organizations will have to give a 21 -day notice to call a special general meeting. In the previous AGM elections, Devjit Saikia was elected the new secretary of the board, while the responsibility of the treasurer was entrusted to Prabhtej Singh Bhatia. Both were elected unopposed.

Many names in the race of BCCI’s new Joint Secretary

The race for the new Joint Secretary of BCCI includes several names. At the top of this list is the name of Abhishek Dalmia, former president of Bengal Cricket Association. At the same time, the name of Rohan Jaitley, head of Delhi Cricket Association, can also be considered. Sanjay Nayak, associated with the Mumbai Cricket Association, is also in this race. It is understood that there will be no election for the selection of Joint Secretary like the Secretary and Treasurer.
