Vellore: In a shocking incident, a four-month-pregnant woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by two men inside a train in Tamil Nadu. She was then pushed off the train. The woman was reportedly travelling to Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh in a train when she was allegedly sexually assaulted in the wee hours of Friday near Jolarpettai in Tirupattur district of the state, reported India Today.
According to the report, the two accused followed the woman when she left to go to the toilet. However, when she started screaming for help, the two men reportedly pushed her out of the train near KV Kuppam in Vellore district of the state.
The woman suffered fractures in her hand and leg, She also sustained injuries to her head. A case has been registered by the Jolarpettai police. The Rail3way Police is scanning CCTV footage to identify the accused.
The woman works at an apparel company in Coimbatore. She is currently undergoing treatment at District Government Hospital in Vellore. One person has been detained by the police in connection with the incident. He has been identified as Hemraj. A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
In another incident of crime against women, a minor student was allegedly gang-raped by three teachers at a government middle school in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district. The three teachers have been suspended by the District Education Officer (DEO) and arrested under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. As per Krishnagiri Collector C Dinesh Kumar, the accused teachers were sent to police and remanded for 15 days.
