Mumbai: Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has instructed the administration to take strict action, including filing criminal charges against individuals blocking farm roads. He emphasized that all Shiv Pannand roads (roads in the farms to carry agricultural equipments) and farm roads must have clear boundaries and be completed with high-quality work.
In line with public input sought through the Public Domain on the enhancement of Shiv Pannand and farm roads, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Revenue Minister Bawankule on Thursday at the Mantralaya. Registration Inspector General Ravindra Binwade attended the meeting via video conference.
Implementing the Nagpur Model
Minister Bawankule highlighted that excellent Pannand roads have been developed in Nagpur district at a cost of only 8 to 10 lakh rupees per kilometer. He advised other districts to study this approach and adopt similar methods for road construction.
He also announced the establishment of village-level farm road committees to monitor the quality of work and submit their reports to the government. The minister emphasized that all pending cases related to Pannand roads should be resolved within a month.
Fees for Survey and Police Protection to be Abolished
Minister Bawankule further stated that the fees for surveying Pannand roads, farm roads, and public rights of way, as well as for police protection, would be abolished. He added that after conducting a survey of such roads, action would be taken against those who remove the markings, including imposing fines.
Regarding road-related disputes, he said that once appeals are made to the sub-divisional officer after a decision by the tahsildar, the final ruling will be given by the government. He also informed that the government will ensure that no distribution letters are approved without mentioning the farm roads.
This initiative is set to improve the infrastructure of farm roads, benefiting farmers and rural communities across the state.MumbaiĀ
