Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A day after a video went viral on social media showing four drunkards beating an on-duty sub-inspector and holding him hostage, two of the arrested accused were paraded and people saw them limping with plaster and bandages on their bodies.
While the police claimed that the duo’s car had ramped into a tree which led to the injuries, most of the people – who saw them paraded — were of the view they had received “a good befitting beating” from the men in khaki. A resident Suresh said that thrashing the cop proved dear to the accused.
On Wednesday, a video circulated showing four drunk miscreants including a jail guard holding an on-duty police sub-inspector hostage in an SUV car and assaulting him after snatching his badge and wireless. On Thursday, the police paraded the accused including the jail guard in public view at the crime spot and the latter also apologised for the act. The police got remand of the accused till Friday and they have written a letter to the jail department for the suspension of the accused jail guard.
Additional deputy commissioner of police Ramsanehi Mishra told reporters, “This incident happened when SI T. Ekka was checking vehicles in the Banganga police station area on Wednesday early morning and stopped the car of the accused who were roaming in suspicious condition.” The accused also made videos while targeting the on-duty cop.
A video shows the duo asking the uniformed policeman his name before abusing and beating him. They also force him to sit inside their expensive car. Banganga police station in-charge Siyaram Gurjar said that a dispute arose between the SI and the four miscreants, Vikash Dabi, a jail guard posted in Jobat and had come home in Indore on leave, his accomplices Ravi Naik, Arvind and Vikash, were under the influence of liquor.
The miscreants misbehaved with the police officer and assaulted him. The police registered a case against the accused under sections 127(2), 121, 296, 115(2), 132, 3(5) of the BNS and arrested two of the accused while a manhunt was on for the remaining two accused.
