Internal conflict in Manipur: The results of the Delhi election will be declared on 8 February. Therefore, the exit poll has already indicated whose government will be formed in Delhi. If the exit poll is to be believed, then the Congress can once again be clear in Delhi. But the Congress is planning to play a big game in Manipur. In Manipur, the internal discord within the BJP has come to the fore. The Congress can take advantage of this. It is believed that the Congress is preparing to bring a no -confidence motion against Chief Minister Biren Singh. Meanwhile, Biren Singh has reached Delhi in a hurry.
Congress is seeing an opportunity
According to media reports, the session of the Manipur Assembly starts from 10 February. It is being said that many BJP leaders in the state are unhappy with the leadership of Chief Minister Biren Singh and their ways to deal with the Manipur crisis. Therefore, the discussion has also started that the opposition is preparing to bring a motion of no confidence against Chief Minister Biren Singh.
Why is BJP angry with Biren Singh?
A BJP faction is unhappy with the manner of dealing with the Manipur violence case. According to a disgruntled BJP MLA, neither the state leadership nor the Center has prepared a roadmap for peace in the last two years. They are just distracting attention by saying that ‘we will seal Seema’, ‘We will implement NRC’ or ‘We will fight drugs’. But the main issue is peace and restoration of normal condition. We are saying that if it does not change before the assembly session starts, then something big and unexpected during the session.
Another BJP MLA says that more than two -thirds of the Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs are not happy with the leadership of Biren Singh. Therefore, everyone has to take some step in the interest of the public and the state. We can’t wait anymore. This turmoil in the BJP is happening because there is a conflict between Maetai and Cookie communities in Manipur since 3 May 2023. More than 250 people have been killed and thousands of people have become homeless.
Congress’s close watch on Manipur
Now in such a situation the Congress will take advantage of this opportunity. Manipur has a total of 60 assembly seats. Since the Manipur violence started, 10 MLAs from the Kuki-community community have not attended the assembly session. It is expected that he will not be present in the next session. National People’s Party (NPP) MLA N. Casey died last month. Now there are 30 BJP MLAs in the House, its colleague Naga People’s Front has 5 MLAs, another ally Janata Dal (United), two independents, 5 of Congress and 6 MLAs of NPP. The NPP withdrew support from the Biren government last year.
Will the Congress bring a no -confidence motion?
On the Manipur issue, the Congress says that it is monitoring the differences within the BJP. Manipur in -charge of Congress Girish Chodkanar said, ‘We do not have a number to bring a no -confidence motion. However, we have been told that internal fights are going on in the BJP and more than 10 MLAs are against the Chief Minister. Our political advisory committee is reviewing the situation. We are monitoring this. We will take the right steps at the right time and do whatever you have to do to restore stability in Manipur. ‘
