Recently, during Mahakumbh 2025, Kinnar Akhara gave Mamta Kulkarni the title of Mahamandaleshwar, but after seven days the post was taken away from him. Many saints and sadhus protested against their past, due to which the dispute increased.
Mamta Kulkarni shared her experience
In a recent television interview, Mamta Kulkarni spoke on her decision to choose the path of spirituality. He revealed an interesting story of his past, which surprised many people.
“No adult film watched for 23 years”
Mamta Kulkarni said that she has not been able to watch any adult film for the last 23 years. He has adopted a strict spiritual life since leaving Bollywood.
The story of drinking “2 peg” during Navratri
He shared an interesting story of celebrating Navratri during his Bollywood career.
“In 1997, my guru came to my life.”
“I used to fast during Navratri, meditate, but went to the Taj Hotel at night and drank two pegs of Scotch.”
His revelations made his spiritual journey even more interesting.
“Used to go on shooting with three bags”
Mamta Kulkarni said that her routine was very strict while working in Bollywood.
- It was his habit to carry three bags on the shooting.
- One bag consisted of clothes, portable temples in the other and other essential items in the third.
- She used to worship in the temple located in her room before shooting, then went to the set.
“I performed a yajna with 36 kg of sandalwood”
He also mentioned rituals performed during Navratri fasting.
- “I used to fast for nine days and used to do havan three times.”

- “My guru saw me for two years and understood that Bollywood will not let me stay on this path for long.”
After this, he decided to leave Bollywood and do penance for 12 years in solitude.
Changes from Bollywood to spirituality
During 1996-97, Mamta Kulkarni’s inclination started moving towards spirituality.
“My guru felt that I would not be able to last in Bollywood for a long time, so he chose a place for me where no one met me for 12 years.”
She left Bollywood and took the path of penance and now she is living a fully spiritual life.
