Mumbai – The court has given Kangana a last chance before issuing a non -bailable warrant when he did not attend a meeting with the mediator to compromise on the ongoing defamation case between Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar and actress Kangana Ranaut.

The BJP MP and the actress, through her lawyer, informed the Bandra court that she could not be present in Parliament.

Akhtar’s lawyer filed an application demanding a non-bailable warrant against him to keep Ranaut present. Akhtar’s lawyer told the court that Ranaut was absent for 40 days. The court asked Ranaut’s lawyer to file a reply, on which the lawyer opposed the issuance of warrant. However, the magistrate decided to give Ranaut a last chance before issuing the warrant.

There was a legal battle between the two over a meeting held at Akhtar’s house in March 2016. There were reports of email exchange between Ranaut and actor Hrithik Roshan, causing public outrage. Being close to Roshan, Akhtar held a meeting with Ranaut and allegedly asked Rhanut to apologize to Roshan.

Ranaut did not react at that time, but after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged suicide in 2020, Ranaut commented on a meeting with Akhtar in a TV interview. A case was registered against Ranaut, calling this comment derogatory.
