The Karnala Bird Sanctuary, in Panvel Taluka is set to become even more appealing to visitors as it undergoes a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at enhancing facilities and attractions.
The sanctuary is introducing several improvements, including new play equipment for children, additional seating arrangements, life-size animal statues, and an open gym for fitness enthusiasts. The revamp of the sanctuary will be done at the cost of Rs 54.17 lakhs.
Spread across 1,200 hectares, the sanctuary is a popular destination for nature lovers and tourists. Speaking about the revamp, Range Forest Officer Narayan Rathod stated that every year, minor upgrades are carried out since this is a major tourist spot. ” This year the funding was secured for improved infrastructure. The approvals were granted in November and work commenced from December 2024 onwards,” he said.
