The defamation case filed against Kangana Ranaut by Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar has been a long time. Now in this case, the Mumbai court on Tuesday gave Kangana a last chance before issuing non-bailable warrants.
Kangana was absent from court
According to the Times of India report, a session was organized to settle the case, but Kangana did not join it. His lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui told the Bandra court that Kangana could not attend this hearing due to some necessary works of Parliament.
Javed Akhtar’s lawyer sought non-bailable warrant
In this case, Javed Akhtar’s lawyer J.K. Of. Bhardwaj filed an application for issuing non-bailable warrants against Kangana in the court. He said that Kangana has not appeared in the court during the last 40 hearing.
The court directed Kangana’s counsel to file a reply on this petition and has given Kangana a ‘last chance’ before issuing a non-bailable warrant.
What is the whole matter?
The legal battle began in the year 2020, when Kangana Ranaut claimed in an interview that Javed Akhtar forced him to apologize to Hrithik Roshan.
Javed Akhtar filed a defamation suit against Kangana, calling this statement a false and defamatory. Since then the matter is pending in court.
Kangana’s professional life
She played former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Kangana Ranaut’s recently released film “Emergency”. The film is also directed by Kangana herself.
Apart from this, she will soon be seen in a Psychological Thriller film made in Tamil and Hindi, although the name of the film has not been finalized yet.
