Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan has created a new history in T20 cricket on Tuesday. He has become the highest wicket -taking bowler in this format, broke the record of West Indies veteran Dwayne Bravo. Rashid achieved this feat during the match between Mi Cape Town and Parl Royals in the first qualifier of the SA20 League.

Under the captaincy of Rashid Khan, MI Cape Town has made it to the finals of this season. In the first qualifier, his team defeated Parl Royals by 39 runs. In this match, Rashid took two wickets for 33 runs. He has 161 wickets in T20 International, while he has taken 472 wickets in domestic and franchise cricket. He has so far played for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Adelaide Strikers, Sussex Sharks and Trent Rockets.

Rashid Khan achieved this record in his 461st T20 match, while Bravo took 631 wickets in 582 matches. Sunil Naren of West Indies is third in terms of taking the most wickets in T20 cricket, named 574 wickets. On the basis of brilliant performance this season, Mi Cape Town has won six out of nine and topped the points table with 30 points.

Significantly, Afghanistan performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup last year under Rashid’s captaincy. The team defeated Australia in the Super-8 phase and made it to the semi-finals.
