The Dallas Mavericks have decided to offer refunds to season ticket holders who cancelled their memberships following the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. According to DLLS report The Dallas Mavericks have offered refunds for the remaining home games this season to fans who have cancelled their season ticket plans. It’s valued around $2,000.

Fans, furious over the move, gathered outside the American Airlines Center on Sunday in protest. Many held signs calling out Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison, who orchestrated the deal in secrecy with Lakers GM Rob Pelinka.

Doncic on getting traded to Lakers

Doncic himself was caught off guard, learning that his 6½-year tenure with Dallas had ended just months after leading the team to the NBA Finals. Speaking at the press conference the former Mavs star said, “You can imagine how surprised I was,” Doncic said. “I had to check if it was April 1. I didn’t really believe it.It was a big shock. Dallas was home, so it was a really hard moment for me. But now I get to play in the greatest club in the world, and I’m excited for this new journey.

He added, “I would say I always take the high road. I had my amazing moments in Dallas with all my teammates, coaches and most importantly the fans. They always supported me, and it was an amazing journey.”

Doncic set to pair up with LeBron James

The deal will see Doncic join forces with LeBron James, who is chasing his fifth NBA title, and his second with the Lakers before he calls time on his career. Davis, meanwhile, links up with Kyrie Irving in Dallas.

Both players have been deputies to LeBron in the NBA: both duos won an NBA title each. Doncic, meanwhile, has not played for Dallas since Christmas Day, when he was sidelined with a strained left calf. He is likely to make comeback against Indiana Pacers
