Mumbai: A 53-year-old woman, who had been battling multiple health issues, including severe diabetes, heart ailments, and eye-related complications, died by suicide at her residence in a housing society in Mulund.
A 53-year-old woman from Daund, Pune, died by suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of a building in Mulund on Tuesday February 4. The woman, identified as Sunita Yewale, had been struggling with multiple health issues and had recently come to Mumbai to stay with her sister for diabetes treatment.
According to police sources, the woman had been struggling with her deteriorating health for a long time, which is believed to have contributed to her distress. Family members and neighbors reported that her health issues had significantly affected her quality of life, leading to emotional and mental strain.
According to Mulund Police, Sunita had been suffering from diabetes for the past 27 years. She had also experienced a heart attack two years ago and was battling an eye-related condition. She was scheduled to undergo treatment at J.J. Hospital in Mumbai but took the extreme step before the treatment could begin.
The incident occurred when Sunita jumped from the seventh floor of her sister’s building. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead before arrival. The Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and recorded statements from Sunita’s sister, husband, and son. Preliminary investigations suggest that she was mentally distressed due to her prolonged illness, which may have led to her tragic decision. Further investigation into the case is underway.
