Not many like Upma, and those who do might not enjoy it every single day. While this is one of the classic breakfast items in Indian homes, it isn’t people’s favourite. What would you choose if you got a plate of Biryani and Upma? We could hear you screaming out loud for delicious Biryani, similar to this young boy from Kerala.
A boy from an Anganwadi in Kerala, named Shanku, requested a change in the menu at the rural child care centre. In a video, he asked for Biryani and Chicken Fry instead of Upma. When Shanku was eating Biryani at his home, his mother recorded him and shared it on social media.

Biryani and Chicken Fry in Anganwadi soon?
The video showing the little boy wanting to not have Upma but enjoy a plate of Biryani or a Chicken meal at Anganwadi went viral and caught the attention of Kerala’s Health, Women, and Child Welfare Minister Veena George.
She reacted to Shanku’s menu change request and stated the government would consider it.
George uploaded a video on her Facebook page stating the foodie child’s suggestion would be taken into account. She extended warm regards to Shanku, his mother, and the Anganwadi staff while noting the centres aim to provide nutritional food to children.
Over 33,000 Anganwadis in Kerala
There are around 33,000 Anganwadis in the state, and it was unclear which care centre Shanku was from. Regardless of that, his video message is being considered by the officials. Notably, Anganwadis don’t only serve vegetarian dishes to kids. In 2022, the government introduced the milk and eggs scheme.
