The ongoing trading tension between the US and Canada has now reached a new level. In response to the tariff decision of the Trump administration, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had already announced a 25% tariff on US products. Now the Ontario government has also attacked American companies.

Ontario’s tough decision, shock to American companies

Ontario, the largest province of Canada, has banned the participation of American companies in government tenders. Not only this, Premier Dug Ford announced that the state government has also canceled its internet agreement with Allen Musk’s Starlink.

Ford posted on social media platform x and said:
“Ontario will not trade with forces that are bent on ruining our economy. American companies will suffer billions of dollars every year, and only President Trump will be responsible for this. ”

He further wrote,
“This fight was started by America, Canada did not want anything like this. But it is decided that we will win in this war. “

Increased tension in America-Canada relations

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had decided to impose a tariff on Canada, in response to which Trudeau also announced a 25% fee on US goods.

However, Trump had claimed that he had talked to Trudeau, but did not indicate to relieve Canada. On the other hand, Mexico was given some relief in tariffs, under which they got 30 days to strengthen their northern boundary and stop smuggling of drugs.

White House statement

The White House reacted to this whole issue and said:
“The US government’s decision to impose tariffs is part of the fight against drugs. Mexico has shown seriousness in it, but Canada is misunderstanding it. ”

Now it will be interesting to see how much this business war between the US and Canada moves and whether the two countries reach any agreement or not.
