Mahakumbh stampede The case was heard in the Supreme Court on Monday. Meanwhile, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) described the incident as ‘unfortunate’. However, the Supreme Court has refused to hear the case. The court said that the petition regarding this incident should be filed in the High Court. The case was heard by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar.

The court has asked the petitioner to go to the Allahabad High Court. The CJI said, ‘This is an unfortunate incident, which is a matter of concern, but go to the High Court. A judicial commission has already been set up. The petitioner told the court that the stampede incidents are happening every day.
The bench dismissed the petition and gave the petitioner freedom to go to the High Court.
On behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi told the bench that a judicial inquiry into the incident is going on. A similar petition has also been filed in the High Court. A bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar dismissed the petition and gave the petitioner freedom to go to the High Court.

This petition was filed by Supreme Court counsel Vishal Tiwari. The petitioner said, “The state government is negligent in stopping the stampede in Mahakumbh.” The petitioner accused the state government of negligence, inadvertence and failure of the UP administration in preventing the incident. Apart from this, the petitioner also demanded the establishment of a dedicated ‘Bhakta aid Kosh’ for Kumbh programs. The petition has also demanded instructions to make policies to all states to enhance mob management and the court has demanded a directive to deploy medical aid teams in Mahakumbh in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government.
There was a stampede in Kumbh on 29 January.
In Prayagraj Mahakumbh, a crowd of devotees thronged for the Amrit bath on the morning of Mouni Amavasya i.e. 29 January. The crowd was moving towards Triveni Sangam Ghat. During this, there was a stampede and more than 30 devotees died. Apart from this, more than 60 people were injured in this incident. However, eyewitnesses say that the death toll in this incident is more. Therefore, everyone is questioning the UP government about this incident.
