Mohol family’s dream of winning Maharashtra Kesari

Wrestling and the Mohol family have an unbreakable bond. Mutha village is the village of the late Mamasaheb Mohol, who established the Kustigir Parishad. The prestigious silver mace given as a prize for the title of ‘Maharashtra Kesari’ is awarded in memory of Mamasaheb Mohol. Pruthviraj, who is from the same village, has etched his name on this prestigious award.

Pruthviraj’s grandfather Amrita Mohol was a great wrestler. He had won the titles of Pune Mayor Kesari, Mumbai Mayor Kesari, and Nashik Mayor Kesari. He also represented India in the senior group wrestling tournament held in Germany. He fought the final match of the ‘Maharashtra Kesari’ tournament held in Wardha in 1989-90. He was declared the winner. However, there was a big controversy at that time, and the match was kept undecided. Since then, the Mohol family has been waiting for ‘Maharashtra Kesari.’

Meanwhile, Pruthviraj’s father Rajendra Mohol had to lose in the clay section in the semi-final match held in Nagpur in 1999. Pruthviraj’s cousin Sachin Mohol also lost in the semi-final match held in Gondia. Another cousin, Sagar Mohol, had to settle for a silver medal in the match held in Balewadi. After his grandfather, Pruthviraj succeeded in erasing the defeat of his father and two cousins this time.
