The basketball world was left in disbelief as the Dallas Mavericks made a blockbuster trade, sending Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. The unexpected move sent shockwaves through the league, leaving fans and even players stunned.

One of the many who struggled to process the trade was Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry. Curry was unsure whether the news was real when it first surfaced. A recently released video captured the reactions of Curry,

When asked whether he thought the trade was good or bad, Curry simply responded, “neither.” The four-time NBA champion remained neutral on the matter, choosing neither to praise nor criticize the trade while acknowledging the unpredictable nature of such a monumental roster shake-up.

According to Yahoo report,ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Shams Charania report the Mavericks approached the Lakers about the deal, which was reportedly due to Dallas’ hesitancy about giving Doncic a supermax contract. The Mavs, according to ESPN, were frustrated by Doncic’s conditioning and ability to stay healthy.

Doncic spent the first seven years of his NBA career with Dallas after he was initially drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the third overall pick in 2018 but was traded for the draft rights to Trae Young.

Following the trade, the 25-year-old officially landed in Los Angeles, California on Sunday night.  Lakers released a video with caption “First moments in the City of Angels,” Doncic said. “Welcome to L.A., Luka Doncic.”

Doncic reunites with former Mavericks coach

Doncic who has been named a five-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA will now play alongside LeBron James, while Davis would be forming a new star duo with Kyrie Irving in Dallas. And it reunites Doncic with his former teammate, Lakers coach JJ Redick. Doncic was one of the Mavericks players on the floor when Redick came out of a game for the final time on May 11, 2021.
