Pune Metro Generates ₹7.87 Crore Revenue In January; Ramwadi-Vanaz Line Contributes More Than PCMC-Swargate | Anand Chaini

Pune Metro generated ₹7.87 crore in revenue in January 2025, while the ridership was 49.69 lakh in the month, officials said on Sunday. The Ramwadi to Vanaz line contributed significantly more — ₹4.22 crore with a ridership of 27.66 lakh — compared to the PCMC to Swargate line, which raked in ₹3.64 crore with a ridership of 21.98 lakh, they added.

The numbers are likely to see a boost in February as the Pune Metro has extended its timings until 11pm from January 26 onwards. This came after commuters persistently demanded the extension of operating hours. Earlier, the metro ran from 6am to 10pm on both routes.

After the announcement, Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar said, “Keeping in mind the increasing usage of Pune Metro and the demand from passengers, we have increased passenger service. This will greatly benefit citizens who go home late from work at night. It will provide citizens with a public transport option that reaches on time and is safe.”
