The Narpoli police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of marrying her in Bhiwandi. The accused has dropped out of the eleventh grade and lived in Bhiwandi. Meanwhile, the victim girl, aged 16, lived in the same locality.
According to the police, the accused and the girl had a romantic relationship for the last eight months. The accused eloped with the girl and stated that he allegedly raped her under the pretext of marrying her. A case was registered under sections 64, 137(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Ajay Koli, Assistant Police Inspector from the Narpoli police station, said, “The victim’s parents approached us and filed an FIR against him. We arrested the accused on Friday. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody for seven days. We are carrying out further investigation into this matter. “
