Global star Priyanka Chopra opened up about a disturbing experience from the early days of her career. At an event, she recalled an incident when a director made an inappropriate demand, insisting on seeing her underwear for a film scene.
Speaking at Forbes Power Women’s Summit, Priyanka, who was only 19 at the time, revealed, “I was speaking to the director and said, ‘Would you speak to my stylist and explain what you want in terms of clothes?’ I was standing right next to him when he picked up the phone and said, ‘People will come to the movies to watch her when she shows her panties. It needs to be really short so that I can see her panties. Those sitting in the front should be able to see her panties.’ And he said it four times. It wasn’t even pretty in Hindi; it was worse.”
Shocked and disgusted by the remark, the actress confided in her mother, Madhu Chopra, that night. “I told my mom, ‘I can’t look at his face. If that’s what he thinks of me, if that’s how small I am, there’s no space for growth.’”
Priyanka ultimately chose to walk away from the film, refusing to work with the director. “Whatever I decide to be will be my choice. How I want to be perceived will be my choice. Perception is reality, and my perception is going to be my identity,” she added. However, Priyanka did not name anyone.
Meanwhile, on the work front, PeeCee is gearing up for her comeback to the Indian screens. She will star in SS Rajamouli’s untitled next with Mahesh Babu. Besides that, Priyanka also has Citadel season 2, Heads of State, and The Bluff on the Hollywood front.
She will also star in Jee Le Zaraa with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif, however, off late, the makers have not announced anything related to the project.
