With fans turning out in massive numbers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as Virat Kohli returned to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years, his stay at the crease proved to be too short. Right-arm pacer Himanshu Sangwan got the better of Kohli for six as he uprooted his off-stump, thereby earning the tag of ‘Desi Boland’ from the netizens.
The 36-year-old drew massive crowds on day one of the Ranji Trophy fixture between Delhi and the Railways, given his return to the first-class competition after a decade. Fans were waiting outside the stadium since 3:00 am to watch the batting maestro in action. However, all Kohli managed was six runs by hitting a boundary before Sangwan made the right-hander’s off-stump take a walk.
With Australia’s Scott Boland dismissing Kohli four times during the recent tour Down Under, Sangwan earned that nickname on social media.
