The Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered the airlines to keep the air fare appropriate amidst the continuous increase in air fares going to Prayagraj to participate in the Kumbh Mela.

According to sources, after this order, the country’s largest airline IndiGo has reduced the fare of flight by 30 to 50 percent for Prayagraj.

Earlier, Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had said that flight fare is very high for Prayagraj. He appealed to the DGCA to take steps to reduce the fare of flights to Prayagraj.

As the demand for flights to Prayagraj is increasing after the Kumbh Mela, the airlines are continuously increasing the fare. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed the airlines to reduce flight tickets prices.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Civil Aviation Secretary V Vulanam, DGCA Director General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai and senior officials today met representatives of the airlines.

The ministry said in a post on X that it reviewed whether flights from across the country to Prayagraj are sufficient.

According to the ministry, regular meetings are being held to facilitate the reach of millions of devotees from all over the world, willing to participate in the world’s largest religious event which runs from 13 January to 26 February, 2025.

Currently 132 flights from across the country are operating for Prayagraj. About 80,000 monthly seats are available for Prayagraj from various cities. Direct flights are available from 17 cities to Prayagraj.
