Preparations are going on to bring Tawwur Hussain Rana, convicted of Mumbai’s 26/11 terror attack. A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will soon visit the US, which will complete the formalities of Rana’s extradition. Rana is wanted in India for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. According to sources, in this month, officials of Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General Rank can go on an American tour. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs are making necessary preparations in this regard. It is clear from this visit of NIA that India is determined to provide justice to the victims of terrorist attacks.

Rana’s extradition will help in further investigation into the Mumbai attacks and this will also detect the role of government elements of Pakistan. 166 people were killed in these terrorist attacks in Mumbai on 26 November 2008, including citizens from the US, Britain and Israel. These attacks are known as 26/11. The US Supreme Court has rejected its final legal challenge against India’s petition for extradition of Rana.

Who is Tehwavur Hussain Rana?

64 -year -old Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin Rana filed a petition in the US Supreme Court on 13 November to review the lower court’s verdict, which was rejected. “We are expecting Rana’s early extradition, which can throw light on some new aspects of 26/11,” said an official. Rana is currently lodged in Los Angeles Jail and is associated with Pakistani-American terrorist David Kolmen Headley, one of the leading conspirators of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Rana and Headley’s relationship

David Headley had agreed to open the First World Office in Mumbai with the owner of the First World Immigration Services at Chicago and other places to carry out his crimes by hiding his terrorist activities. According to an official, “Rana’s extradition will help to prove the role of Pakistan’s government elements in carrying out the attack.” Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and the army conspired and carried out the most deadly terrorist attack in India on 26 November 2008 by sending 10 terrorists in Mumbai. These terrorists targeted major places in Mumbai, such as Taj Mahal and Oberoi Hotel, Leopold Cafe, Chabad House and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station. These places were identified by Headley.
