The political atmosphere has started to heat up in Delhi ahead of the assembly elections 2025. Leaders are leaving no stone unturned to take jibe at their opponents. On Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) candidate from New Delhi constituency Parvesh Verma immersed a cut-out of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the Yamuna River.
Verma lashed out the Kejriwal and the AAP government in Delhi for not fulfilling the promise of cleaning the Yamuna River. In the cut-out, the AAP chief was shown holding his ears and apologising as saying not to vote for him as he failed to clean the Yamuna River in Delhi.
“Main fail ho gya, mujhe vote mat dena. Main 2025 tak Yamuna saaf nahi kar paayea (please don’t vote for me. I have failed.I could not clea the Yamuna River even till 2025),” the caption written along with Kejriwal’s photo on the cut-out.

Notably, Verma is contesting the Delhi polls against Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat. The constituency will witness a triangular contest between Verma, Kejriwal and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit.
Earlier on Friday, Verma dismissed the allegations made by the AAP regarding Kejriwal being attacked during a public meeting and accused the former Delhi Chief Minister of “fabricating” a “false threat” to divert attention from his “failures.”
Speaking to reporters, Verma said, “It is now clear that Kejriwal is playing games with the public. Delhi Police provides full security, so why does he need extra protection from Punjab? This is nothing but a political stunt ahead of the elections.”
“Kejriwal is creating a false ‘security threat’ to divert attention from his growing failures. He is scripting this drama so that later he can claim, ‘I was attacked,’ and the election theatrics will begin!” he added as reported by ANI.
On Thursday, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal alleged that some people of the opposition candidate entered his public meeting in Hari Nagar and attacked his car after Punjab Police withdrew additional security given to him.
Attacking Kejriwal further, Verma accused him of trying to “cover-up” his increasing unpopularity and said it is nothing more than a desperate political manoeuvre.
The assembly election in Delhi are scheduled to take place in a single phase on February 5 and the votes will be counted on February 8.
