India has lodged a strong protest over the presence of Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu at the swearing -in ceremony of US President Donald Trump. In this regard, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that India will raise this issue seriously in front of America. He also clarified that India is cautious in all matters related to its national security and will regularly put such issues before the US government.
Randhir Jaiswal said in his weekly press conference, “Whenever anti -India activities take place, we keep them seriously before the US administration. Our attitude in national security related matters is clear, and we will continue to take strict steps against any such agenda. ”
Question on Pannu’s presence
Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, who holds dual citizenship of Canada and America, was allegedly present at Trump’s swearing -in ceremony on 20 January. According to media reports, Pannu was not officially invited to the ceremony. It is reported that he bought tickets through a private source.
Slogans in support of Khalistan
A video that went viral on social media shows that when the crowd present at the ceremony was shouting slogans of “USA, USA”, Pannu was seen shouting slogans of “Khalistan Zindabad”. The video showed the close-up of Donald Trump and Melania Trump on the first stage and then the camera turned towards the crowd, where Pannu was seen raising slogans pro-Khalistan.
India has expressed deep displeasure over the incident and considered it against its national security and sovereignty.
