BCCI banned Ankit Bawne: Maharashtra batsman Ankit Bawne has been banned for a match due to disagreement. The BCCI made this announcement before the sixth round of the current Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. In fact, the incident took place during the Group-A match of Maharashtra at the MCA (Maharashtra Cricket Association) ground in November last year. Which was against services before the start of the White-Ball tournament.
What was the whole matter?
Amit Shukla was caught by Shubham Rohilla of Services in slip. But he looked unhappy with the umpire’s decision as he felt that he was not out. He refused to leave the ground for about 15 minutes as the decision could not be challenged due to non -availability of DRS. The match resumed after the intervention of the match referee Amit Sharma and Maharashtra coach Sulakshan Kulkarni.
What did MCA say?
In this regard, the MCA issued a press note saying, ‘Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) wants to officially inform that our Ranji Trophy player Ankit Bawan is currently facing the ban imposed by BCCI. As a result, the Ranji Trophy against Ankit Baroda will not be available for the match. However, we are happy to confirm that they will be available for the next match and will continue to contribute to the success of Maharashtra team. We respect the BCCI’s decision and are committed to maintaining discipline and sportsmanship in cricket. The team is currently paying its best to perform its best. We are waiting for Ankit’s innings in the next match.
