Karnataka Politics: There may be a major change in leadership in Congress -ruled Karnataka. However, the party has not officially made any statement about this. However, the latest statement of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given air to these speculations. After the assembly elections in the state, it was allegedly decided that the Chief Minister would change in two and a half years. At present, Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar seems to be at the forefront in the race for the new Chief Minister.
Speculation intensified due to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement
On Thursday (January 23), Siddaramaiah’s statement indicated for the first time that there was a conversation between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar. When reporters questioned the Chief Minister about the change of leadership in the state, Siddaramaiah said, “After all, the high command has to decide everything.”
Signs of leadership change
Now this statement of the Chief Minister is being linked to his earlier statements. Earlier, he was denying the news of leadership change, saying that he would complete his five -year term. However, now he said, ‘I will perform my duty. ‘The party high command will decide on the leadership.’
30 months agreement
Significantly, the Congress won a big victory in the 2023 assembly elections. At that time, Shivkumar was pressurizing the party to get the post of Chief Minister. The party had to intervene and allegedly had a 30 -month agreement. Now that Siddaramaiah is about to complete 30 months as the Chief Minister, the supporters of both are promoting their names as the new Chief Minister.
What did Shivkumar say?
After receiving the blessings of Jain spiritual guru Gunadhar Nandi Maharaj to become the Chief Minister, Shivkumar on Wednesday (January 22) promised his loyalty to the party and denied any personal ambition for the top post. After the blessings of the Jain Guru, the speculation of Congress leadership change in the state has once again intensified.
Addressing journalists at Hubli Airport, Shivkumar said, ‘The spiritual guru is free to bless the leaders as per his wish and we respect it. However, the party’s decision is supreme and we will follow it. ‘
Inner stress in Congress?
Shivkumar’s comments are currently being seen as an attempt to calm speculation of internal tension in the Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Analysts believe that this development may discuss a possible leadership change within the party.
