The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued important guidelines regarding 10th and 12th board examination 2025. The board has issued new rules for the smooth and fair conduct of this examination starting from 15 February 2025. Also, schools have been instructed to inform the students about these rules before the examination.

Mandatory Guidelines for Conducting Examination

CBSE has clarified in the notification that it is necessary to ensure fair examination keeping in mind the academic interests of the students. For this, the Board has issued “Unfair Means Rules” (UFM). It is mandatory to inform all the students appearing in the examination and the concerned officials about these rules.

Guidelines expected from schools

  1. Understand and share unfair means rules:

    Schools will have to read the “UFM Guidelines” and related penal provisions properly and explain them to the students and their parents.

  2. Inform students:

    Make students aware of exam rules, prohibited items, and consequences for inappropriate actions. Also teach them to avoid rumors and not be a part of them.

  3. Involve Parents:

    It is also necessary to inform the parents about the examination rules and penal provisions, so that they can motivate their children to follow them.

  4. Reminder on exam day:

    Remind students to ensure that they do not bring any prohibited items before entering the examination centre.

  5. Train the Examination Officers:

    The officers and employees deployed in the examination should also be given complete information about these rules.

CCTV surveillance and ban on electronic devices

CBSE has made CCTV system mandatory for monitoring the examination centres. CCTV footage in the examination hall will be monitored by the Assistant Superintendent. Bringing electronic devices like mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth etc. to the examination center is strictly prohibited. Their use will be considered unfair means and punitive action will be taken.

It is mandatory to follow dress code

CBSE has also released the dress code for the exam:

  • For Regular Students: School uniform is mandatory.
  • For private students: Light and simple clothes.

Items allowed in examination

Students are allowed to carry only the following items in the examination:

  • Admit Card and Identity Card:

    School identity card for regular students and any government photo identity proof for private students.

  • Stationary Items:

    Transparent pouch, Geometry box, Blue/Royal blue pen, Writing pad, Eraser, Scale.

  • other items:

    Analog watch, transparent water bottle, metro card, bus pass, money.

prohibited items in exam

The following items are strictly prohibited in the examination:

  1. Stationary Items:

    Text material (printed/written), Calculator (allowed only to special students), Pen Drive, Electronic Pen.

  2. Communication Device:

    Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphone, Smart Watch, Microphone, Health Band.

  3. Other accessories:

    Wallets, goggles, handbags, pouches.

Use of these items will be considered unfair means and strict action will be taken as per CBSE rules.

Objective of CBSE

This step of CBSE is to ensure transparency and fairness of the examination. Students, parents and schools are expected to follow these guidelines and make the examination a positive and successful experience.
