Western Railway has announced a major block on the nights of January 24th/25th and January 25th/26th for the reconstruction of a bridge between Mahim and Bandra stations. The block will affect suburban train services, with 127 services cancelled on the night of January 24th/25th and around 150 services cancelled on the night of January 25th/26th.
Additionally, around 60 services will be partially cancelled.
The block will be implemented on the slow lines between Mahim and Bandra stations from 11:00 PM on Friday to 8:30 AM on Saturday. The down fast line will also be blocked from 12:30 AM to 6:30 AM during this period. On the night of January 25th/26th, the block will commence from 11:00 PM on Saturday to 8:30 AM on Sunday on the UP and Down Slow and Down Fast lines.
To minimize the impact on commuters, Western Railway has made arrangements for some trains to run on alternative routes. For example, slow locals departing from Churchgate will operate on the fast corridor between Mumbai Central and Santacruz, skipping certain stations.
Similarly, slow trains departing from Virar, Bhayandar, and Borivali will run on the fast corridor between Santacruz and Mumbai Central.
On Saturday morning, slow and fast locals from Virar, Nalasopara, Vasai Road, Bhayandar, and Borivali will terminate at Andheri. The first fast local towards Churchgate after the block will depart from Virar at 5:47 AM on Saturday, and the first down fast local from Churchgate will depart at 6:14 AM.
Western Railway officials have stated that the block was scheduled at night to minimize the impact on commuters, and most suburban services will run as per schedule during the day. However, long-distance trains will also be affected due to this block.
