Pune’s Guillain-Barré Syndrome Surge Hits 59 Cases: Kasba MLA Hemant Rasane Meets PMC Officials Seeking Urgent Action |
Fear has grappled Puenkars as Pune reported 59 cases of the rare neurological condition known as Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Thus, in order to resolve the matter as soon as possible and address the worries, Kasba MLA Hemant Rasane met with representatives of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
As the early diagnosis and prompt intervention are essential for recovery in GBS patients, Rasane advised the PMC and nearby hospitals to make sure that cheaper treatment alternatives are made available. In order to stop additional contamination, he also emphasised the importance of cleaning water storage tanks and putting water purifying initiatives into action.
A state of panic has taken hold in Pune as a result of the recent reports of GBS infections in several sections of the city. Rasane met with Additional Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj BP to discuss this matter and asked that prompt action be taken to address the growing number of cases.
In order to inform the public about GBS, Rasane also advocated for the start of awareness campaigns. He emphasized that although the illness is not communicable, it is associated with tainted water. He suggested that folks stay away from eating from open booths and drink boiled water as a preventative measure.

Meanwhile, as city grapples with an unprecedented outbreak of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), an immunological nerve disorder linked with contaminated water and food, residents in the affected and nearby areas are blaming the PMC for failing to provide access to safe water to the residents.
In addition to residents, the Pune unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also slammed the PMC, while NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar has appealed for better action.
