There has been a stir in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir due to the spread of a mysterious disease. So far 17 people have died due to this serious disease in Badhal village of Rajouri division. All the 17 people who died belong to three different families. As a precautionary measure, the government has declared the entire village as a containment zone.

Rajouri Additional District Magistrate Rajeev Kumar Khajuria has issued an order dividing the village into three containment zones. He will be transferred to the Government Medical College, Rajouri and it will be mandatory to go there.

Families who have lost their loved ones to the disease are preparing to seal their houses, after which no one, including family members, will be allowed inside. After sealing the house, only authorized employees and officers can enter it.

The village has been declared a containment zone under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNS). This section empowers the Magistrate to issue written orders in emergency situations.

Administration took a big decision

The administration has taken this decision after a person fell ill on Tuesday and movement in and out of the village has been banned. An order has been issued under Section 163 of the Indian Judicial Code and the houses of the victim’s families have been sealed.

At least 17 locals, including 11 children, have died in Budhal village of Kotranka subdivision of Rajouri district since December 8, 2024. The last death occurred on January 17. Local people claim that people lost their lives due to a mysterious disease.

No viral or bacterial infection was confirmed in the samples analyzed in various major laboratories of the country. However, some poisonous substances have been found in the samples taken from the dead.
