Champions Trophy 2025: In any International Cricket Council (ICC) event, every player has to wear a jersey with the name of the country that is hosting it. The T20 World Cup was hosted by BCCI but the tournament was held in UAE. Even at that time, India’s name was written along with the logo on the jersey of every player in the tournament. However, before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, reports are coming out that the Indian team will not do this. Indian team will remove Pakistan’s name from the jersey! Now ICC has reacted to this report.
So strict action will be taken against the Indian team
According to a report, an ICC official said, ‘It is the responsibility of every team to put the tournament logo on its jersey. All teams will have to follow this rule. He reportedly further said that if the Champions Trophy logo along with the name of host country Pakistan is not placed on the players’ kits, then strict action can be taken against the Indian team. Earlier, during the Asia Cup 2023, the Indian team had worn the jersey with the name of Pakistan written on it. But it remains to be seen whether the same will happen this time too?
What is the ICC rule?
According to ICC rules, teams are required to write the name of the host team on their jersey. This has already happened in the case of India. At that time the tournament was held in UAE, but it was hosted by BCCI. A report has claimed that BCCI is not ready to write the name of Pakistan on the team’s jersey this time. But meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied receiving any such information. However, till now no official statement has come from BCCI and PCB in this regard.
