US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Volge held their first bilateral international meeting with India’s Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reached America to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Donald Trump.

The meeting between the two prominent politicians representing the world’s two oldest and largest democracies was held at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the US State Department. This was the first bilateral meeting after Donald Trump became President.

India’s first meeting coincides with the start of Trump’s second term

Typically, the first meeting after a President takes office in the United States is with his neighboring countries Canada or Mexico. But this time this has been done for the first time with India. Within an hour of the beginning of Donald Trump’s second term, a meeting took place between the foreign ministers of the two countries. An important discussion took place between the leaders of the two countries on the issue of India-America strategy. Indian Ambassador to America Vinay Katra was also present in this meeting which lasted for more than an hour.

Secretary Rubio and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed a joint international press conference after the conclusion of the meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries. During this international press conference, an important partnership was seen between the two leaders. After the meeting and international press conference, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote a post on X. In which it was told that this was his first bilateral meeting with Marco Rubio after assuming the charge of Foreign Minister. It was a pleasure to meet Marco Rubio during this meeting. Marco Rubio was seen as India’s strongest supporter in the trilateral partnership debate. Apart from this, views were also exchanged in a wide-ranging discussion on global issues.
