India’s T20I team captain Suryakumar Yadav was seen in a jovial mood in the press conference before the first T20 International match against England. When he was asked about the preparations for T20 World Cup 2026, he replied in a funny manner. The five-match series against England can prove to be an ideal preparation opportunity for India for the T20 World Cup to be held within a year. When Suriya was asked how he is preparing for next year’s mega event, he said in a light-hearted manner, “Should I tell you all the secrets here only?”
At the press conference held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, Surya, while answering questions on the roadmap of T20 World Cup 2026, said, “Should I tell all the secrets here only? I want to enjoy this journey. We have to prepare the team, decide the positions and play most of the matches as a group. That is what Gauti Bhai (head coach Gautam Gambhir) and I are focusing on.”
T20 team vice-captain Akshar Patel had said on Monday, “The World Cup is in a year, so we want to prepare now to reach it. This is our main goal. Speed is an important aspect, because if you start well, it is easy to build on. We have finished 2024 on a good note, and now want to carry the momentum into this series as well.”
