Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the notification of Civil Services Examination (Preliminary)-2025 today, 22 January 2025. The application process will start from today at upsconline.nic.in. You can see the notification by visiting the official website of UPSC upsc.gov.in. Interested candidates can apply till 11 February 2025. UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2025 will be held on 25 May 2025.
Through this examination, officers will be selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other all India services. To appear in the main examination of Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination, it will be mandatory for the candidate to pass the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination. This means that the preliminary exam of both the competitive exams will be the same.
Qualification for Civil Services Posts:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university/institute.
- Students who are appearing in the final examination of Bachelor’s degree can also apply, but they will have to submit proof of degree attainment while applying for the main examination.
Eligibility for Indian Forest Service Examination:
- Bachelor degree with any one of the subjects Agriculture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Biology from a recognized University/Institute.
- Or Bachelor degree in Agriculture/Forestry.
- Or have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Age Limit:
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 32 years
- The maximum age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for physically handicapped candidates.
Attempt Limit:
- General category candidates get 6 attempts till the age of 32 years.
- OBC candidates get 9 attempts till the age of 35 years.
- SC/ST candidates get unlimited attempts up to 37 years.
Selection Process: UPSC Civil Services Examination consists of three stages:
- Preliminary Exam (Prelims): All the candidates have to appear in the preliminary exam first.
- Mains: After qualifying the preliminary examination, candidates are called for the main examination.
- Personality Test (Interview): Candidates who qualify the main examination are interviewed.
- Final Merit List: Final merit list is prepared on the basis of performance in main examination and interview.
